Neighborhood Watch Needs You!

According to the National Crime Prevention Council on 2023 FBI Crime Data, violent crime dropped again in the U.S. That is obviously good news, but that alone doesn’t necessarily mean people feel a greater sense of security. A feeling of safety is closely tied to a sense of community.

Engaging residents in their own safety and security is the best way to both reduce crime and make people feel safer. The same FBI data also show an increase in hate crimes and car theft. Both crimes reduce a sense of community and trust. Empowering people at the community level to Take A Bite Out Of Crime® should be the goal because that’s the one thing all criminals hate.

With your help, we can create a Neighborhood Watch in Ghent Square, but we need you to get involved!

People like you are what make a Neighborhood Watch program successful. Your neighbor needs your help and you need your neighbor’s help. The small steps you take now will pay big dividends down the road. Building a spirit of community helps keep all of you safer and more secure. That’s what Neighborhood Watch is all about.

If you’re interested in organizing or participating in a community watch, please contact Lori Rattan, Ghent Square’s community manager, at lrattan@communitygroup.com.
